About the Classroom Projects Grant Program

The Golden Apple Foundation Classroom Projects program affords teachers in Winnebago and Boone counties the opportunity to develop and implement creative educational projects that enhance the learning experience of their students. It provides teachers a resource for expanding and enhancing the curriculum for the benefit of students in Early Childhood/Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Eligibility for project funding rotates each year, opposite eligibility for the Teacher Recognition Award. The annual grants, ranging from $150 to $1,500 each, support innovative projects that go beyond the daily curriculum and planned activities in the classroom.  6th-12th grade teachers are eligible to apply for grants for the 2012 grant period and Pre-K-5th grade teachers are eligible to apply for grants for 2013.

Since the program’s inception, Golden Apple Foundation has provided more than $100,000 to classroom teachers to address student-learning needs. Projects have included voice-recognition software, literacy-building activities, conserving water and cleaning up ground water, international business, leadership skill building, fine arts projects, improving student self-esteem and more.

The Classroom Project Grants program is supported in part by gifts to the Teacher Tribute fund.
